A Year Ago

A year ago today Bruce was picked up and taken to San Jose Animal Care Center. A year ago today BossMan and I were planning our wedding, buying a house and getting ready to start this new journey together. We had no idea that Bruce would be a part of it all.

I can't imagine what was going through Bruce's head that day a year ago but I'm sure glad everything ended up the way it did. We sure love our boy.

Sweetheart

So our foster, Mindy has a date with a potential adopter tomorrow evening. And so the fostering process continues. Nothing is for sure of course and tomorrow is just a first step. Not sure how I feel about all of it. We love this girl and we think she likes it here with us. She fits in so nicely here. At the same time I know she will be a great addition to a family in search of a dog that loves to snuggle, loves to run, loves to chew her bone and loves to fetch. She is a sweetheart. Sweetheart. Our First Foster

So here is the story of our Bruce and how he became part of our new, little family... Foster Failure...I've seen this term used around the Blog-a-verse and it definitely applies to me and BossMan. It simply means that we are weak humans who selfishly keep a foster dog for their own pleasure. PATHETIC I tell you, just PATHETIC! Ok well all kidding aside, our first foster turned into our furrever baby (see what I did there) after only 2 days. The blame can be handed out evenly, 50/50. I can't blame BossMan because honestly he didn't even know what hit him when this all started. He was DUPED, HOODWINKED, SWINDLED, etc. We blame Bruce because he was such a good foster and because he seemed to make himself at home quite quickly. He just fit in with us. Good to Know

Well I learned something new about Bruce on Monday night, during dog training. He's a spaz... oh wait I already knew that! BUT the reason, according to the trainer, is he is a dominant dog. Oh no! The horror! When the trainer told me this I was shocked! I mean, our Bruce. Dominant. Our Bruce, the biggest baby and mommas boy, dominant? How is that possible? So I decided to do some research on what that really means. And before anyone freaks out... dominant does not mean aggressive or an alpha. Here are some interesting things I found out about the type of dominant dog Bruce is during my little research sesh... Again, Dominance does not mean aggression. Actually, a lot of times a bite and attack comes from a dog being uncomfortable and nervous, not dominant. Wanting to be ahead during walks and not letting go of toys are 2 signs of dominance that Bruce shows.
